The Egyptian Princess

At school, H has been studying Egypt for the past nine weeks. She's made scrolls, pyramids, hieroglyphics and more. She was excited to come home and tell me she had to make her costume!
As we neared the party date we sat around my sewing machine together, used fabri-tac and had fun making this costume. She was so proud to go to school and show it off.
I noticed at drop off that day that there were some store bought costumes. When H got home I ask her and she says "Well, I had to make my costume because I"M AN ARTIST!" As her teacher keeps telling her she's a great artist and creative! Nonetheless, she and I made great memories that week.
I sent in my scrapbook of Rick and I's 10 day trip to Egypt in 2003. Her class enjoyed the up close details.
On party day I sent in a fruit tray with dates and Egyptian foods. She tried hummus and dates.
Fun times in Kindergarten!

Tea Time With Our Sweet Friends

Girl time is so precious. One of my bestest friends lives in town, her girls are a little older than mine. I love how they are great loving examples to my children and my girls look up to them and my friend.
Today I planned a special "tea time" for dress up, lady likeness and fun!
H VN loves LOVES loves getting dressed up with jewelry and heals, where E follows right now but loves to be told how beautiful she is, What girl doesn't?
It was a snowy morning where all in town was canceled but Pink's opened and we did our thing....so much fun!

The Meaning of Christmas

I love the month of Christmas with children. The questions, the giving, the preparation, the worship, the joy and ALL THE EXPLAINING AND TEACHABLE MOMENTS!!!!
My girls are at the age of understanding so everything we do I have to give reason and purpose to for their little hearts and minds. I pray the Lord guides our words and actions as we are leading them to Jesus!
What a great amount we have to be thankful for; I'm reading "The 7 Experience" and purposely did the month of giving during December. Not only did we purge toys and clothes and jewelry and dishes and linens but the lessons it taught my girls was invaluable!!!
Each time they saw me give something away I had the chance to explain how the Lord loves a cheerful giver and how blessed I felt to give more than to receive especially to those in need.
H & E saw other children smiles as big as the sky when they gave toys....those smiles will forever be imbedded in their minds and hearts.
To me, they saw the real meaning of Christmas!

Christmas Day with Family

Christmas Time Prayers

Sweet Mommy moment last night as E thanks God for her food and then says "and Jesus Im thankful you had a Merry Christmasand and Happy New Year to you Amen!"
Then H says " Mommy did Jesus decorate heaven for Christmas?"
What great conversation around the table talking about all the decorations in heaven!!
I took her to the Book of Revelation to explain just how heaven is decorated.
I love the curiosity of a child but also the joy they have for what is to come. There are many teachable moments for we adults in the thoughts of a child.
