It's not a surprise that she loves the pool since she loves her tub. However, she really likes to stand on the side of the pool and jump in my arms, I do stand fairly close for her. This morning she was waving and admiring some of the big kids who were swimming in the pool, I was trying to teach her to kick and they were doing a great demonstration. We think she'll love the swim team and do quite well with her height.

HVN's 1st Birthday on the Beach
I couldn't miss the opportunity to do a photo shoot of HVN on the beach. Before dinner on July 16th the sun was hding behind the clouds and the pictures came out great. It was just her and I until the crowds thought she was beautiful and wanted to watch what we were doing; of course she didn't mind.Rick and I took a walk on thebeach that night to contemplate the last year and God's amazing Grace in answering so many prayers. We praised Him and thanked Him for Hope's life, all she has taught us and the joy she brings daily. I recall our prayers that night for Hope's birth mom and her family, its an automatic thought as they mean so much to us for the sweetest gift they ever gave. We are eternally grateful that God chose us to be Hope's parents and for each day He allows us to lavish our love on her. I pray that He continues to grow us as a family and imparts an unbreakable bond between all four of us as God, parents and child.

HVN's 1st Birthday at 1:10 pm
Miss Sheila made HVN her 1st birthday cake! The funny thing is that we often see hints of red in Hope's hair so this was a fitting cake, plus it was from scratch as everything else is that Sheila makes. The students sang to her and made her feel quite special. When she first dug into her cake it didn't go to her mouth, I had to let her taste it before she would do it herself. She really is a fruit and veggie girl so the taste of something this sweet is usually rejected. But after she tried it a couple times she was ready to play!!! Needless to say I had to put her in the kitchen sink for a wipe down before leaving the dining hall! Thank you everyone for making our Princess' day so wonderful!!!HVN's 1st Birthday Morning
The Morrow family stayed in the cottage with us this week. So Jacob, Rebekah and Isaac brought Hope a sweet book and baby doll for her birthday present. They were so thoughtful and fun to have around this week.My tears had started the day before as I contemplated HVN's birthday and the moment we first layed eyes on her. I remember when I first saw her that I sang "Jesus Loves You" to her. So this morning before Happy Birthday, I picked her up and sang that to her again (really it's a song we sing daily to her) then we danced to "Happy Birthday".

Broadway on the Beach
Hope wanted to go shopping at Broadway on the Beach, actually she wanted to ride the rides so we took her. This was our night out with the students and we all had fun shopping, eating and hanging out! Here you can she she was not afraid of the Merry Go Around. Daddy of course wanted her to feed the ducks and fish so you see they're having their outdoor hunting moment together.Youth Ministryis our life; so we are fortunant to be able to take HVN along and allow her to be a part of the ministry God has called our family to. The students are good to her and love her so much as their own!

HVN's 1st Trip to Play on the Beach
We spent a week at the beach with the youth group so Rick wouldn't miss Hope's 1st birthday. She loved the ocean and the waves splashing on her, she never cried when it got in her face and motioned for more. We thought that she would enjoy it since she loves the tub. I was afraid she would try to eat the sand but she didn't. She actually wanted me to wash it off of her hands, funny how she doesn't like to be dirty. It's so precious to watch her world expand and know she is enjoying life.Saturday, July 11, 2009
Let's Go See Grandma!!!!
Grandma Nicely had a knee replacement a couple weeks ago, so we dressed up and went to see her at the rehab center. She is doing great and will soon be able to play on the floor with little Hope.I've been snapping many pictures since she'll soon be one, she almost looks like she's past a year but she's not...she's still our baby girl and always will be!!!!
